(Up to 6 Months)

911 Communications Operations is searching for an experienced Administrative Assistant, who is responsible for Special Transit Dispatching and other related administrative duties, including entering data into computer files and processing it using various types of software, scheduling meetings, establishing and sustaining internal and external relationships, and assisting with the maintenance of the department budget. Our Ideal Candidate possesses strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to express ideas and concepts effectively, orally and in writing, as well as provide excellent customer service.

If you enjoy supporting others to help them achieve their work goals, being versatile and responsive to customer and organizational needs, and are a positive team member who willingly shares tasks and celebrates both individual and team accomplishments, then this may be the job for you! Knowledge and skills in standard office management practices and processes, including administrative processes, accounting principles, minute-taking, and record keeping, and having a minimum keyboarding speed of 60 wpm with a high degree of accuracy, would be considered an asset.

Required Qualifications:

  • A one (1) year Office Technology certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution;
  • Two (2) years practical experience in a related clerical and/or administrative support position;
  • Supplementary training in word processing, spread sheet and data base programs;
  • Two (2) years’ work experience in the area of public/customer service;
  • A management approved equivalent combination of training/education and experience may be considered;
  • Must pass a full Police Service security clearance as outlined in the Medicine Hat Policy and Procedures, including a polygraph examination.
