Enforcement Services is seeking an additional Peace Officer Sergeant to join our team. This is a management level position and the successful candidate will report directly to the Peace Officer Inspector (Enforcement Program Manager).

Main Responsibilities

As a Sergeant you will be responsible for leading a team of Peace Officers and/or Bylaw Officers. Your duties will include operational planning, supervision, employee training/evaluation, scheduling, community liaison and project management. The Sergeant will be required to alternate with the other managers for on-call supervisor needs and act as the Program Manager in his absence.


This position requires a Community Peace Officer (Level 1) Appointment, A City of Grande Prairie Bylaw Officer Appointment, an enhanced RCMP security clearance, five (5) years of law enforcement experience, the successful completion of required training courses and a proven ability to investigate criminal, provincial or bylaw related complaints using a problem solving approach. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Minimum education is a diploma in law enforcement from a recognized institution or equivalent training and experience. Specialized training in Emergency Vehicle Operation, Health & Safety, Collision Investigation Level II, Radar/Laser, C.V.S.A., Transportation of Dangerous Goods, and Weights and Dimensions is considered an asset.

Applicants qualifying for appointment as a Community Peace Officer Level 2 may be considered in limited circumstances.

$47.77 – $58.65
