Reporting to the General Supervisor, Landscape Design and Construction, you will carry out the day to day project contract activities for a wide variety of landscape projects!
As the Project Management Officer you will:
Lead project teams and administering various projects from concept to completion under time pressures to meet deadlines on budget while supporting the City of Edmonton’s project management framework practices and the Parkland change process
Perform project administrative functions by establishing and maintaining budgets and cost controls
Managing assigned project scope, budget, schedule and any other required change orders to meet project deliverables
Ensure all contractual, legal, safety,and industry standard requirements are effectively incorporated into all projects
Budget, estimate and prepare cost estimates and alternatives for internal and external customers
Provide budget, schedules and formats for consultants in the preparation of technical drawings and specifications
Prepare and distributing construction meeting minutes
Oversee project inspections and report findings
Prepare and administer various parks construction contracts and tender documents related to landscaping, hard surfaces, infrastructure and utilities
Organize bid reviews and site inspections, and preparing acceptance recommendations
Review invoices and costs associated with the management and administration of projects justifying cost effectiveness
Work closely with other Project Managers to ensure accurate and complete documentation
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, consultants and management as well as addressing political issues
Qualifications
:
A Diploma/Degree in Horticulture, Arboriculture, Engineering Technology or Business Administration or a related discipline. Related landscaping or project management courses would be an asset
A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in project management and administration. Experience in a municipal setting would be an asset
Experience with project budgeting
Experience with landscape projects
Basic understanding of surveying and landscape grading
Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google and PACMAN and SAP (accounting and project management) software
Knowledge of City of Edmonton Parks Tangible Capital Assets (TCA) reporting requirements and Parkland Change Process requirements
Knowledge of current trends and developments in construction
Knowledge of and ability to interpret contractual and legal requirements
Considerable knowledge of hard surfacing, utilities, infrastructure and landscape construction, safety and labour requirements
Ability to interpret and read total project plans and specifications of a complex nature
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with contractors, government officials and management
Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent).
Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver’s permit is a requirement of this position
Must obtain business auto insurance for personal vehicle use on City business
Hours of Work
: 33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday.
Salary Range:
$40.668 – $51.111 (Hourly), $71,646.850 – $90,044.800 (Annually).
