Consider this position of Project Manager in the Community Initiatives section of Community Strategies and Development Branch of Community Services. As a Planner II, you will lead and facilitate complex initiatives to help change the face of our community and impact our quality of life!

Working in a collaborative, fast-paced team environment you will develop, manage and lead a variety of diverse community and corporate strategies, conduct advanced research and policy development, and produce strategic business plans.

Some of the key responsibilities include:
Developing, coordinating, managing, and implementing City Council directed policy initiatives and complex multi-partner projects

Overseeing projects from conception to termination, including tasks such as: developing terms of reference, determining scope, identifying project objectives, resources requirements and deliverables, risk assessment and mitigation, timelines, managing complex public consultations, report writing and production, implementation, and project evaluation

Applying advanced research and analysis skills regarding specialized urban and civic issues, including researching emerging social and community trends and producing reports and recommendations for policy and program changes to Senior Management and City Council

Providing professional planning, advisory and project management services to Community Services Leadership Team, to City Council and Corporate Leaders, business units, and departmental branches

Establishing and maintaining positive collaborative working relationships with community stakeholders, interest groups, and citizens at large

Managing the work of project teams, overseeing vendor relationships and contracts, and supervising temporary staff as needed

Qualifications

:

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following qualifications:

Successful completion of a Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Planning, Policy Studies, or Arts. A Masters degree is an asset

Project Management or Facilitation/Public Engagement training and/or certification is an asset

A minimum of four (4) years of experience in policy and project management, research management and strategy development in the areas of community and social planning

Experience in a large organization or public sector setting is an asset

Demonstrated knowledge of training and skills development in group facilitation, public involvement process, and standard research techniques

A high degree of proficiency in written and verbal communications with corporate and community clients and colleagues

Superior organization and time management skills to support the management of concurrent initiatives, along with a strong customer service focus

Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Salary:
$44.123 – $56.306
