Master Composter Recyclers are Edmontonians who promote waste reduction. They volunteer by influencing friends, family, and co-workers to recycle properly, leave their clippings on the lawn, start composting at home, and more.
We are looking for an engaging personality to support our volunteers as they spread the word on (less) waste.
You will be challenged to manage multiple tasks, lead projects, communicate effectively with many creative personalities, and improve our impact. Put your leadership and collaborative skills to the test. Join this dynamic team.
Communicate with diverse volunteers and applicants (in-person, phone, email, social media)
Write content for publishing by email, e-news, blog, facebook, and print media
Record, maintain, and analyze program information
Develop and implement small projects
Deliver composting, recycling or waste reduction presentations to diverse audiences
Collaborate with community partners
Prepare and deliver supplies and materials
Provide support to staff and volunteer teams
Provide support to other volunteer programs with Waste Management Services as needed
Qualifications
:
Degree/diploma in education, community development, volunteer management or related field
Minimum 1 year experience in volunteer program coordination and delivery
Completed the City of Edmonton Master Composter Recycler Program OR
willing to complete (evenings and weekends) within one year on the job
Experience with Microsoft Office & Google Suite
Experience directing small projects from design to implementation
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent).
Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver’s permit is a requirement of this position
Experience with Better Impact or similar volunteer software is an asset
Experience with web and print media, including social media is also an asset
Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check including Vulnerable Sector check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton
Demonstrated ability to deliver key messages to large and small audiences
Excellent communication, organization, time management and interpersonal skills
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend work is required.
Salary:
$25.797 – $32.374 (Hourly)
