As a member of the Law Branch administrative support team, you will:
Provide secretarial support for the Law Branch
Word processing of legal documents and memos using Word 2010
Open, close, file diarization, print correspondence, update and maintain Lawyers’ files (both electronic and paper)
Respond to telephone inquiries from within the civic framework as well as outside inquiries and re-direct inquiries appropriately
Obtain and prepare meeting agendas, schedule meetings and rooms
Conduct Land Title/Registry searches
Format bylaws, council reports and agreements
Create cheque requisitions including necessary follow-up
Enter data into Word, Excel, Google, SIRE and iVos including transcription from hand-written copies; cr
eate miscellaneous forms, letters (using mail-merges), labels and envelopes
Prepare inter-departmental memos and establish follow-up system to ensure response or escalation

Completion of Grade 12 including business subjects and successful completion of the Legal Assistant program from an approved business school/college
Minimum 3 years
experience in legal assistant work, including demonstrated supervisory capability.
An additional 2
years of legal assistant experience are required in lieu of completion of the Legal Assistant program
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word and Excel
Experience with Gmail, Google Calendar,
, and IVOS will be considered to be an asset
Ability to provide excellent customer service
High level of organization with the ability to understand and manage multiple tasks with different priority levels
Proficient and accurate typing skills including spelling, grammar and punctuation
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Hours of work may be subject to the terms and conditions of a variable hours of work program.
21M, Salary Grade: 012, $23.681 – $29.694 (Hourly); $41,720 – $52,313 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
