Reporting to the General Supervisor of Neighbourhood Renewal, the Engineering Technologist II will be responsible for providing technical design and drafting support to the Design Sections of the Roadways Design and Construction Branch.
Lead our technical design and provide the City of Edmonton’s citizens with safe, efficient, innovative, and best value transportation infrastructure!
You will be required to:
Meet with the General Supervisor, the project team and key individuals/ departments associated with the projects to determine project status and scope
Provide leadership in computer aided design of roadways, sidewalks and records maintenance
Research, prepare and verify engineering designs and provide the project team with accurate information for all roadway design projects
Prepare utility crossing agreement and relevant supporting documents
Process field survey data, prepare preliminary and detailed engineering drawings using Microstation and GEOPAK, assign and supervise and check work of junior staff
Meet with the project team to discuss project progress, obstacles and solutions. Identify any problems encountered and recommend concrete solutions
Lead, mentor and provide training to junior technologists in drawing and design preparation
Attend public forums, provide technical support, oversee the creation of open house material/ presentations for public meetings and open houses
Perform all work in accordance with the Department’s Occupational Health & Safety Program and EnvISO – Environmental Management System (ISO 14001)
Qualifications
:
Completion of a 2 year diploma in Civil Engineering Technology from a recognized educational institution
A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in advanced urban geometric design and project management of roadway projects
Extensive experience in computer aided design (AutoCAD, GIS, GEOPAK, and Microstation are considered assets), database and spreadsheet application
Knowledgeable of the City of Edmonton’s Design and Construction standards and other industry accepted design guidelines such as T.A.C.
Certified Engineering Technologist membership with ASET is an asset
Highly developed verbal and written communication skills
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver’s licence (or provincial equivalent)
Hours of Work:
33.75 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Salary
:
$38.749 – $48.857 (Hourly); $68,266.05 – $86,073.82 (Annually)
