As a Coin Processing Technician, you will be responsible for the accurate processing of high volumes of currency through the operation of various processing equipment. In a typical day you will:

  • Receive currency from City of Edmonton Departments. Prepare, verify and sort currency for shipment using various processing equipment
  • Enter data and prepare documents using Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Work under strict security and confidentiality, including being monitored and recorded under closed circuit surveillance
  • Perform repairs, preventative maintenance, and adjustments on various types of equipment
  • Perform all work in accordance with the Corporate Cash Handling Procedures
  • Prepare, process and file statistical documentation for all currency processed
  • Report all discrepancies to the Coin Processing Administrator
  • Other related work as required


  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Basic knowledge of accounting practices is an asset
  • The successful candidate must successfully complete on the job training on the repair and maintenance of processing equipment within the first 3 months
  • Experience with High Speed Coin Sorters, Coin Rolling and Bulk Cash Handling is an asset
  • Knowledge of routine office practices, including proficiency with Microsoft Office, experience with Google Suite is an asset
  • Accurate data entry skills and the ability to perform mathematical calculations
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to service, maintain, and adjust processing equipment, familiarity and skill with basic hand tools
  • Ability to work in highly secure and confidential environment
  • Ability to perform the physical demands of the position, which include repetitive lifting motions and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to establish priorities and effectively handle several tasks simultaneously as required
  • Hire is dependent upon a Police Information Check satisfactory to the City of Edmonton

Hours of Work : 40.0 hours per week, Monday – Friday.

Salary: $23.340 – $29.267 (Hourly); $48,733.92 – $61,109.50 (Annually)
