As a summer student with our Client Solutions Division, you will be given meaningful, productive and challenging assignments while being introduced to a career in municipal government. In this position you will work with Senior Technical resources to complete assignments related to the development, documentation, implementation and support of applications. Specific duties of this position will involve one or more of the following:

• Code, test, document and implement new system functionality.
• Participate in the design and implementation of databases.
• Perform data analysis and verification.
• Take part in project meetings where you’ll have the opportunity to actively discuss and provide input and solutions to meet business challenges.
• Diagnose and resolve issues.
• Participate in peer reviews to understand coding standards.
• Work with team members to update and/or standardize system documentation.
• Provide support to existing applications and resolve production problems.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a diploma or degree program in Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, Math or Engineering.
• Previous experience documenting system functionality and technical processes (workflow diagrams) will be considered an asset as will proficiency with any or all of the following areas:
  • Programming Languages: C#.Net, ASP.Net
  • Web and Mobile Development: HTML5, CSS3, Java Script, JQuery, JSON
  • Database: Oracle, SQL Server, PL/SQL
  • GIS Development: ESRI ArcObjects, Python
  • Reporting: Active Reports
  • Development Tools: Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
• You have strong analytical skills and attention to detail accompanied by well developed time management and organizational skills.

Pre-Employment Requirements

• Must have attended school full time in 2016-2017 to apply on this competition and intend to return to school on a full time basis in the next academic year.
• A security clearance will be conducted.
