The City of Burnaby is actively seeking a Team Lead – Information Technology (Program Delivery) in the Information Technology Department. This is analytical and administrative work at the supervisory level in support of the City of Burnaby’s IT systems and infrastructure. Responsibilities include the preparation of project plans, schedules and budgets, ongoing project monitoring and tracking, and providing regular status updates to management on project progress. The position will plan one or more IT projects within a portfolio of departmental projects and manage these projects to a successful completion working closely with stakeholders and IT Project Coordinators, Business Analysts and other IT-related staff.

The successful incumbent will participate in the development and maintenance of comprehensive project plans including project scope, timelines, and risks; track the achievement of assigned project objectives; prepare, monitor and track project budgets; support meetings with the project team and stakeholders as required; facilitate input from stakeholders to arrive at appropriate solutions; follow up with recommendations when appropriate or necessary; ensure project closeout at completion; and work with fast-changing project parameters and dependencies. Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications include a University Degree at the Master’s level in computer science, business, public administration or a related discipline and considerable related software implementation experience at a project management or supervisory level, OR, an equivalent combination of training and experience. Project management certification, such as Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent is preferred. The successful applicant will have thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of project management including knowledge of information technology project planning and estimating, as well as, project management software and tools. Considerable knowledge of information technology components and methodologies required to deliver business application solutions is necessary. The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts and provide ongoing advice and assistance on matters related to project and sustainment work is required. Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to present to complex technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences is essential. The position also requires skill with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project. A Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia is required.

This is a Temporary Full Time opportunity to December 31, 2017. Hours of work: 70 hours bi-weekly; 8:00 AM to 4:45 PM with a nine day fortnight schedule.
