The Business Analyst 1 (BA 1) is a member of the Revenue Services team and performs analytical work at the entry level in support of departmental applications across the City of Burnaby. The successful candidate will perform tasks related to sustaining existing business applications and also the deployment of new systems. The successful candidate will also assist in the development and configuration of applications.

Reporting to the Manager Business Solutions, focus for this assignment will be the Corporate Point of Sales (POS) System Replacement project. Duties include developing use cases and preparing test data for the vendor’s quality assurance on the configured application, performing functional testing, identifying and tracking issues, participating in issues resolution by working alongside project SME, assisting with development of the training plan and training materials, executing deployment and production readiness tasks and supporting the Business Analyst 2 on all project tasks as required. Following the live release into sustainment, the successful candidate will be assisting the Finance POS system administrator as required.

Completion of a university degree at a Bachelor’s level in computer science or a related discipline and systems analysis experience, or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. An additional degree in accounting, business administration, or completion of an accounting designation will be considered a strong asset. Knowledge of the operational methods and general functions of information technology departments and collaboration with other internal departments; ability to participate in the work of a project team and the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; exercise a strong capability to perform under pressure and deliver results within tight time constraints is also required.

This is a temporary full time position until December 31, 2017, with potential for extension.
