Job
Overview
As a manager you will join
CIBC’s LiveLabs team. This department is responsible for looking at leading-edge
technologies, applications and tools in the industry and coming up with ways to
implement them into the organization to be able to service our clients in ways
that fit their life. This is an excellent opportunity to for someone who is
looking to work with the newest technologies and change how CIBC supports our
clients.
In this role you will oversee
a team of developers and be responsible for driving development projects. You
will be doing hands on development work and creating prototypes for the organization.
In addition, you will providing coaching and mentoring to junior employees.
What You’ll Be Doing
Proactively manage the
CIBC Live Labs technology strategy and day-to-day operations by assessing
and communicating prototype concepts, implications and solutions
Determine the
feasibility of new products and platforms by analyzing market/economic
data, competitor practices, vendor viability and CIBC architectural fit
Facilitate
brainstorming and working sessions, daily stand-ups and bi-weekly sprint planning
and demos
Evaluate digital
start-up concepts and technologies to determine their suitability and
alignment with CIBC’s digital strategy
Produce documentation
and presentations for consultation and review with partners and
stakeholders across the bank
Communicate team
performance, and gather metrics
Manage relationships
with third parties (including vendors, customers, distribution partners
and service providers) to acquire timely delivery and support of services
to meet the needs of CIBC, where applicable
Support the team
through various stages of projects in an Agile environment
Lead some of Canada’s
brightest students, and developers to design and code game-changing
FinTech-related prototypes and applications of various complexity
Coordinate the nation-wide
recruitment of top University students and promote the CIBC Live Labs
brand and vision within the community
What We’re Looking For
Passionate innovators, creators,
collaborators, and leaders who are up for the challenge of building the
bank of the future and delivering solutions that meet our clients’
changing needs
University degree in Computer
Science/Software Engineering.
3+ years of experience in software
engineering preferably within an agile environment
Must have the ability to act in a team
lead or people manager role with the ability to coach and mentor junior
employees
Must have thorough and tactical
understanding of new media and related technologies
Must have the ability to communicate
with various levels of the organization in both technical and business
roles
Must have knowledge of Agile frameworks
(e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
Experience using common tools
(Confluence, JIRA, Bitbucket, G Suite, Slack) strongly preferred
Work across multiple languages, such
as: Java, Swift, Objective-C, Node.js, Ember.js, React.js, and Python
strongly preferred
