Job Overview

CIBC eChannels Delivery is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated French Editorial Specialist with experience in content management, translation and editing for the web. You will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and proofreading content intended for the mobile applications, online banking, CIBC.com, and sites for affiliate/subsidiary banking services.

The primary responsibility of the French Editorial Specialist is to review and edit English-to-French translated content for consistency, tone and any typographical and grammatical errors. Translated content updates and/or short emergency translation may be required.

You will work closely with the Lead French Editorial Specialist and the Editorial Manager to create and maintain French editorial standards for eChannels, ensuring fully optimized French content is produced while maintaining a consistent tone and voice. You will also work closely with the Editorial Manager to effectively deliver a cohesive and compelling user experience, improve client fulfillment, and use SEO tactics (developed by eChannels Strategy team) to increase traffic to the sites.

As well, you will work closely with the project team to ensure timely delivery of accurate and concise French content. You must be able to work to tight deadlines, have strong attention to detail and exceptional interpersonal skills.

Job Requirements
Managing all facets of the editorial process on a day-to-day basis:

  • Translating, reviewing and proofreading content for CIBC websites
  • Coordinating web projects across departments
  • Working with cross-functional teams to maintain and develop French content for web properties
  • Copyediting and proofreading content intended for the web, telephone banking, bank machines, mobile applications, mass marketing and targeted marketing offers
  • Working cooperatively with key team members, clients and vendors

Editorial project management for large consumer websites:

  • Ensuring content from clients and external partners is accurate and meets organizational standards
  • Proofreading published content, ensuring accuracy and adherence to editorial standards and to the Office Québécois de la langue Française and Loi 101
  • Coordinating review and fact checking of content by internal clients and business partners
  • Editing translated content based on organizational standards and best practices
  • Maintaining style, tone and editorial standards for all CIBC eChannel properties
  • Effective and efficient version control of content and copy decks

Completing daily editorial requests for various internal clients:

  • Reviewing and editing content for online banking, CIBC.com, Brokerage/investing sites, and sites for affiliate/subsidiary banking services
  • Copy editing and quality assurance for published content
  • Ensuring content from clients and external partners is accurate and meets organizational standards
  • Coordinating review of content by internal clients and business partners
  • Proofreading and editorial review of content for cross-functional teams
  • Support the coordination of translation, Québec Marketing and Québec Legal reviews, as well as French editorial review
  • Manage daily content verification process to ensure all published changes are implemented exactly as specified and free of errors

Adapting to evolving business needs, while adhering to deadlines and delivering clean copy:

  • In partnership with project managers, business product teams, marketing teams, and development teams, negotiate definition of project scope and timelines while managing internal client expectations
  • Consistently meeting deadlines while maximizing value for internal clients

Qualifications
What We’re Looking For

  • Degree in Translation with computer experience, or technology with strong English and superior French language skills.
  • Native French proficiency
  • Translation/editorial experience in a structured environment – 3+ years
  • Strong terminological research skills – 3 years
  • An effective team player willing to share expertise, knowledge and information
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral – 5 years
  • Effective Client Relationship Management Skills – 5 years
  • Detail and process oriented

  • Remaining current on emerging web technologies, mobile applications and social media

    Working with minimal direction while effectively responding to shifting business needs
