The HR Generalist is responsible for a full array of HR support to our corporate office including; recruitment administration, performance management, on-boarding of new hires and conducting orientations. This includes assisting in the development, coordination, facilitation, implementation and maintenance of corporate, regional and facility related HR initiatives. In additional, the HR Generalist will provide back-up assistance and support to HR team and work with a national focus to ensure alignment and successful implementation of programs and processes.

The key activities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Administers the employee lifecycle events for Corporate employees (new hires, transfers, changes, leaves of absence and terminations) including updating documents and procedures as required;
  • Provides administrative support to the regional recruitment team;
  • Administers various human resources programs and procedures and assists in the execution of HR programs ensuring service delivery excellence;
  • Helps to ensure HR programs and initiatives comply with provincial and national legislation related to human resources e.g. Employment Standards, WSIB, Human Rights, Occupational Health and Safety, Labour Law, etc.;
  • Maintenance of personnel policies and procedures;
  • Prepares and maintains organizational charts, employee handbook, and HR management guide;
  • Coordinates and updates internal communication sites;
  • Manages HR forms and surveys;
  • Tracking of vacation time, sick time and personal leaves as required;
  • Coordinates and manages property tours for corporate staff;
  • Ensure leaders have all required resources and all employees have completed their annual performance management cycle.
  • Provides support, advice and guidance to managers specifically related to recruitment, employee engagement promotion and orientation;
  • Participate as a member of working groups and committees pertinent to the development and growth of Chartwell
  • Maintains current knowledge of HR practices, policies and procedures;
  • Participates in special projects as required.


  • Experience in recruitment, working on teams and special projects


  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business or Human Resources
  • CHRP certification is an asset
