About the Business

TERA Environmental Consultants (TERA) became a member of the CH2M HILL family in April 2014. With offices in Alberta and British Columbia, TERA focuses on providing environmental consulting services to the Canadian pipeline, power line, and oil and gas industries. TERA’s staff is anchored by their group of professional environmental planners who provide project leadership in managing the various regulatory processes. This core group is complemented by TERA’s specialized disciplines, which include Aquatics; Wetlands; Vegetation; Wildlife; Remediation, Reclamation and Restoration Planning; Socio-Economics; Stakeholder Engagement; GIS; Archaeology; and Cultural Resources.
Description and Desired Qualifications
Wildlife Field Biologist – Calgary, AB

The Wildlife Biologist is responsible for completing work both in the field and in the office. This job requires employee’s to conduct field survey’s, complete technical reports and project plan to ensure client deliverables are met.

Intermediate biologists would act as crew leads, requiring them to partner with junior biologists for a number of different projects in the boreal area. The wildlife biologist will work as part of a multi-discplinary team.

Reporting to the Manager of Wildlife the successful candidate will be responsible for:

field work coordination
field work and technical writing

Job Requirements/Qualifications/Experience:
B.Sc. or M.Sc. in biology, specifically related to wildlife.
Professional designation including membership with the Alberta Society of Professional Biologists and the BC College of Applied Biology
Excellent technical writing skills and experience writing applications for activities in western Canada that are provincially and/or federally regulated.
Working knowledge of provincial (primarily BC and Alberta) and federal environmental legislation
Experience designing biophysical baseline studies and monitoring programs.
Strong time management skills, with the ability to simultaneously work on multiple tasks/projects and meet project deadlines
Demonstrated commitment and accountability to providing quality products.
Positive attitude, self-motivated with strong initiative
Excellent interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and suited to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
