BC Transit is a provincial crown corporation and coordinates the delivery of safe, reliable, cost-efficient and market-focused transit services in British Columbia outside of the Greater Vancouver region. Working in partnership with local governments and private companies, BC Transit provides direct services in fleet acquisition and management, contract administration, transit planning, marketing and financial services.
This position is based in Victoria which is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria (regional population 330,000) is the capital of British Columbia and a community of choice for many, due to our temperate climate, natural beauty and diverse economic opportunities. Victoria is an international resort destination with a transportation network that includes airport, helicopter and seaplane services, buses, ferry, and cruise ships.
Job Description:
General maintenance and repair of Nova, New Flyer, Trident, Dart, and Community Shuttle coaches, which includes brake systems, suspensions, engines, hydraulics, electrical, air conditioning, fuel systems, transmissions and driveline components. Will be required to rebuild and order parts and change off buses needing repairs.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Truck and Transport Red Seal Trade Qualification or Heavy-Duty Equipment Technician Red Seal Endorsement
Automotive trade qualification with extensive experience repairing Transport or Heavy Duty equipment may also be considered
Current BC CVIP inspection certification, or capable of obtaining
Valid BC Class 2 with air driver’s license, or capable, after on the job training, of holding a class 2 license with airbrake endorsement.
A good understanding and working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and air brake systems is required.
Must hold a valid driver’s license, Class 5 or higher, with a demonstrated record indicating safe and responsible vehicle operation over the past 5 years.

The position may require working a variety of shifts and weekends.

an unaltered copy of your Class 2 Learners permit with air brake restriction. If you already hold a Class 2 license, please include an unaltered copy of your driver’s license with your resume and/or application
Preference will be given to those applicants who hold a Commercial Transport or Heavy Duty Mechanic trade qualification. Candidates with an Automotive trade qualification and experience repairing Transport or Heavy Duty equipment will also be considered.
This position requires the completion of a clear Criminal Record Check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search.
