Starting construction in 2018, we are building an underground panel cave mine, extracting gold and copper. Construction continues for 4 years and is followed by a 12-year mine life.

Reporting to the IT Manager, the Junior IT Specialist will primarily be responsible for providing Tier 1 and 2 desktop and network support for the end-users at Kemess Mine site. The incumbent in this position will also gain hands on experience working with network and server management.
This position will be working at Kemess Mine site near Prince George on a shift rotation of 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
Be the first point of contact at site for all IT related issues, including Tier 1 and 2 helpdesk support, such as user issues, user account management, system administration, networking, and maintenance
Address any IT related issues and concerns with customer-service focused approach
Provide support both hardware and software, such as Windows Operating System, Microsoft Office and Exchange, LAN, VoIP, wired and wireless devices, etc.
Maintains hardware and software inventory, controls lifecycle of hardware and software assets, and performs asset disposals.
Working with IT Manager, manage computer operation scheduling, back-up, and storage and retrieval functions.
Participates as an active member of the Global IT Operations Team by taking on ad-hoc and improvement projects/initiatives.
Other related duties as required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Post-secondary education in information technology related field
1-3 years’ experience working as desktop support IT professional with focus on support work on Microsoft solutions
Certification in MCSE or related is considered an asset
Understanding of networking including DNS, DHCP, vLANs and VPNs.
Working knowledge of troubleshooting desktops, laptops, phones, VOIP, mobile devices and network server environments.
Previous experience working with Active Directory is an asset
Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
Ability to work with minimal supervision, showing initiative and creativity.
Strong customer service skills with strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with and support all levels of the organization.
