Contract position: 6 week RELIEF PAINT TECHNICIAN REQUIRED-Journeyman

FLAT RATE HOURS DURING THE DAY MONDAY TO FRIDAY 7:30 -5:00

FEBRUARY 21 to APRIL 7

The Painter/Refinisher is responsible for assessing vehicles following body repair to determine refinish efforts required to restore the vehicle’s paint to an acceptable level.

Specific Accountabilities (include but are not limited to)

Evaluate bodywork prior to starting refinish efforts – if bodywork is not acceptable or

incomplete, please notify body tech or production manager

Read and understand every aspect of the work order in order to ensure proper repair of the damaged vehicle – ensure all parts/panels that require refinish are on the estimate

Responsible for preparing the damaged area of the vehicle for painting;

Check all parts to ensure that they are correct for the repair assigned; if incorrect, notify the Parts Manager immediately

Mentors and coaches preppers as required

Works closely with the preppers to oversee quality control of all prepping duties

Responsible for protection of the vehicle from primer and overspray and any removal of

overspray as necessary

Responsible for formulation, preparation and application of all primers, sealers, basecoats, colour coats and clear coats

Responsible for use of all paint-related products according to the manufacturer’s recommended procedures

Responsible for colour matching and mixing paint, in accordance with vehicle’s specifications and insurance guidelines

must complete spray out cards and catalogue for future reference

Responsible for completion of all refinishing per the estimate or work order in a timely manner using proper methods

May be required to paint edges of panels and parts

Responsible for providing and maintaining own set of hand tools, including air sanders, air wrenches, miscellaneous air tools, spray guns and a mobile tool cabinet

Responsible for reporting any discrepancies, missed damage, hazardous conditions, damaged tools and equipment or other unusual problems to Production Manager

Adopt work habits that are in accordance with the Company Employee Policy Handbook and perform all assigned repairs which are safe and correct to reflect the philosophy of the company

Attend scheduled daily meetings in the production area for daily release update meeting

Advise the management team immediately on any vehicle that has deficiencies or delays that will impact the planned delivery of a vehicle.

Maintain a safe and clean environment in which to work that reflects the working conditions of the Company.

Designations/Training/Experience Requirements:

AutoBody Refinisher journeyperson ticket is required

A minimum of 3 year experience working as an Auto Body Refinisher/Painter

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Ability to lift, handle and move items up to 50kg

Working in an auto body shop environment (noise, dirt, fumes, hazards)

Repetitive and physically demanding work – stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, squatting, pulling and work in awkward positions

Subject to drug and alcohol testing

Must be able to work around chemicals and fumes

Salary is commensurate with experience and all shops are flat rate.
