Position Purpose:
As the Regional Grain Marketing Manager, you will be accountable for the success of the Grain Marketing Services (GMS) product line within the region. Working with the Sales and Consulting Manager, you will provide support and coaching to the Grain Marketing Advisors and to the rest of the sales and consulting teams. Through coaching and providing technical support and education, you will increase the team’s ability to sell and profitability grow the GMS product line. In addition, you will be responsible for providing the necessary tools and training to the Grain Marketing Advisors required to deliver grain marketing services to farm customers including the execution of core product deliverables such as market reports and risk management tools as well as cash flow and contribution margin analysis.
Principal Accountabilities:
40% – Lead the strategic direction and commercial management of the GMS product line including participate in the development of the national GMS Strategy and work with regional management to develop tactics to be implemented in their respective regions; profitably grow and achieve the financial targets (revenue and P&L) of the GMS product line; continually evaluate and identify farm customer needs; work with the National Grain Marketing Manager to align product offerings and pricing levels with a balanced “cost to serve” ratio to ensure profitability for Cargill while creating value for the farm customer
40% – Provide coaching and technical support to the Grain Marketing Advisors including ensuring they are technically equipped to deliver products and continually meet customer expectations; partnering with the Sales and Consulting Manager, assist in the coaching of the Grain Marketing Advisors and location teams on how to sell products by discovering customer needs; communicating GMS product line updates including product enhancements, product launches, pricing strategies, etc.; maintaining brand integrity and improving customer retention by ensuring consistent processes and program deliverables are executed against in order to continually meet customer expectations; enabling growth through the sharing of best practice across territory teams
20% – Through a dotted line reporting structure, provide leadership and support to the Grain Marketing Advisors including providing consultative input on the development and assistance in the execution of Talent Management strategies (e.g. recruitment, training, development, retention and engagement); provide assistance in performance management coaching alongside the Sales and Consulting Manager
Qualifications
Required:
Strong understanding of farm customers, the grain and agriculture industry
Specialized knowledge of grain marketing and risk management with in-depth knowledge, grain futures, options, market fundamentals, grain contracting alternatives and individual customer grain marketing planning
Excellent comprehension of Cargill’s Risk Management Tools
Demonstated ability in sales, marketing and brand management
University or college degree or diploma or equivalent work experience
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills
Must be legally entitled to work for Cargill in Canada on a non-temporary basis
Preferred:
Deep business acumen and proven track record of achieving financial results
Demonstrated strong leadership in change management
Consulting experience
