Responsibilities

Working with the Principal Investigator (PI), the Research Clinical Psychologist / CBT therapist will be part of a team undertaking a research project entitled Skills for Wellness (SWELL) at Capital Health in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

Skills for Wellness (SWELL ) is a research study using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy-based intervention to prevent the development of severe mental health problems in youth with milder antecedent psychopathology, including psychotic-like experiences, anxiety and affective lability. SWELL is integrated in the Families Overcoming Risks and Building Opportunities for Well-Being (FORBOW; www.forbow.org) project, involving youth at high familial risk for developing severe mental illness. The age range of our participants is 9 to 24. It is our aim to reduce the risk of psychosis and mood disorders by teaching the participants skills for emotional wellness.

We are looking for a clinical psychologist, nurse or other health professional proficient in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) with interest in developing and administering novel CBT modules for children, adolescents and young adults in research context.

Qualifications

* Master’s Degree in psychology, nursing or other health profession required.
* Completed training in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) required.
* Doctoral level degree (PsyD, DClinPsy, PhD) preferred
* Current registration with a professional organization of cognitive-behavioural therapists (e.g. CA-CBT, BABCP, NACBT) preferred
* Clinical experience with mental illness required
* Demonstrated clinical and assessment skills related to the scope required for a particular study and patient population
* Strong interest in academic work required
* Academic publication record, preferred.
* Experience with children and adolescents preferred
* Experience with CBT in research context preferred
* Ability to relate to people and personalities from a wide variety of backgrounds
* Well developed communication skills, both oral and written
* Ability to organize and undertake research with a team and in an independent manner
* Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

* Long Assignment Part-time (50%) Position; 37.5 hours biweekly

Salary

Neuropsychologist Research:
$35.1254 – $43.9067 Hourly
