The Clinical Dietitian, as a Medical Nutrition Therapy specialist, is the member of the interdisciplinary health professional team responsible for the nutritional management and education of patients. The Dietitian initiates cost effective medical nutrition therapy following the nutrition care process including nutrition assessment, identification of nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention and ongoing monitoring and evaluation. Nutrition care plans are outcome-focused, incorporate evidence based best practice, are formulated to optimize both clinical and fiscal outcomes, and emphasize health promotion and disease prevention. The Clinical Dietitian promotes a collaborative health care team approach in the provision of person-centred care. Working in the Pre-Dialysis Clinic and Kidney Transplant setting, the Clinical Dietitian is responsible for educating patients/caregivers about the nutrition management of their condition
* Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition
* Completion of Dietetic Internship accredited by Dietitians of Canada
* Licensure by Nova Scotia Dietetic Association required
* Competency in dysphagia management and enteral nutrition is required
* Experience in Nephrology
* Competencies in other language are an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work
*Permanent Part-time Position (80%); 60 hours bi-weekly
$28.8171 – $37.9860 hourly

This is a NSGEU Healthcare Agreement – Healthcare Bargaining unit position. Preference is given to bargaining unit employees for unionized positions.
