Opening Statement

The Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA) provides sustainable safe and high quality health services that are accessible, people-centred, promote health and wellness, and optimize the health of all Nova Scotians. This is accomplished across four management zones which are responsible for the operation of acute care health centres and the provision of a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and community based programs and services, including mental health and addictions, primary health care, public health, and continuing care.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Manager – Project Management, the Assistant Project Manager has responsibility for managing day to day activities of assigned capital projects within the Western Zone of the Nova Scotia Health Authority (NSHA).

Demonstrating leadership behaviours and capabilities, consistent with LEADS in a Caring Environment framework, which include Leads Self, Engages Others, Develops Coalitions, Achieves Results and Transforms Systems, this position is responsible for the planning, coordination, and project management of assigned projects within the NSHA; participating and supporting functional design planning; specification writing; drawing review; cost estimation, and tender document coordination. This includes overseeing design consultants and contractors and interfacing with stakeholders and clinicians to ensure projects are delivered within budget and to project milestone dates and, most importantly, meeting the objectives of the project. The Assistant Project Manager may be required to act as Interim Manager – Project Management to ensure continuity of service during annual leave.

Qualifications

* Registered Engineer (in N.S.) in a relevant Engineering discipline having three (3) to five (5) years’ project management experience ; or
* Project Manager with five (5) to seven (7) years’ of experience in a building infrastructure or healthcare environment
* Professional Engineering Designation is an asset
* Project Management Professional Certifications is an asset
* Significant experience with AutoCAD
* Experience in building design, contract, construction and project management.
* Experience managing a wide range of complex projects and stakeholder teams, committees, etc.
* Budgeting and project estimating skills
* Proven record of success working with staff, contractors, consultants, designers and clients
* Proven ability to apply quality management principles and processes
* Ability to apply risk assessment and management principles and processes
* Strong communication, planning, presentation and organizational skills
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with staff, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders
* Significant experience with Microsoft Office

Hours of Work

* Regular full-time position
* This position will be located in an NSHA office within Western Zone
* Some evenings and/or weekend work may be required to support project schedule commitments

Salary

$66,487 – 83,109 annually
