This is technical work in the field of web server administration. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation, configuration, monitoring and administration of the organization’s web servers. The incumbent is also responsible administering content management and collaboration systems. The incumbent reports to reports to the Manager, Web & Instructional Technologies.

Key Responsibilities
– Administers web servers including installation, configuration, testing, upgrading, tuning.

– Administers the organization’s web platforms including content management, blogging and collaboration software.

– Deploys web applications and configuration to production servers using established release procedures.

– Ensures compliance to Change Management protocols as they relate the web technologies;

– Develops and implements standards for web development;

– Recommends and implements web server, content management and collaboration policies and procedures.

– Analyzes and monitors the performance of web servers.

– Monitors log files to ensure proper operation of web services.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
– Extensive knowledge of web server technology such as Microsoft IIS, Apache, and Tomcat.

– Extensive knowledge of application deployment and configuration on Microsoft IIS, Apache, and Tomcat.

– Extensive knowledge of administration of Microsoft SharePoint, Ektron CMS and WordPress

– Extensive knowledge of ASP.Net, PHP and Java Servlets.

– Extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux and Microsoft Windows operating systems.

– Ability to review strategies, business requirements and/or high level design documents, and offer critical analysis and suggestions for improvement.

– Ability to develop logical approaches to problems.

– Ability to multitask, apply organizational skills to meet deadlines, and work with minimal supervision.

– Ability to understand and follow complex oral and written instructions, and communicate information effectively, both orally and in writing.

– Ability to assemble and organize information obtained from a variety of sources.

– Ability to adapt to changing situations.

– Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and work in a team environment.

Required Qualifications & Experience
– Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in an IT related discipline or a Bachelor’s Degree and a 2 year diploma in an IT related discipline.

– Five years of progressive experience in web server administration.

– Experience with Atlassian/Jira

Required Licenses, Certificates & Registration
– Certificate in ITIL 3.0 Foundation
