Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Operations Supervisor is responsible for the daily operation of the warehouse and warehouse staff in the areas of order picking, shipping, load planning, receiving, warehouse optimization, and workplace safety. EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS Warehouse Operations Maintain an efficient and safe warehouse, while meeting customer service levels and achieving inventory integrity.

 Ensure order picking and shipping levels are sufficient and inventory discrepancies are at a minimum for customers to receive complete orders, in perfect condition, with on-time deliveries.

 On an ongoing basis, work with the Branch Manager to review operating procedures in order to achieve and maintain customer service order levels.

 Responsible for maintenance, upkeep, and security of the warehouse.

 Review invoices, orders, vacation schedules, and demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and maintain appropriate staffing levels.

 Ensure compliance with Manitoba health and safety regulations and Corporate safety guidelines.

 Plan and oversee the flow of products arriving to the facility to ensure company standards are met and maintained.

 Plan outgoing loads in a manner that is cost-effective and meets customer expectations for deliveries.

 Investigate and resolve external and internal customer issues and complaints in a timely manner.

 Ensure smooth operation of equipment and machinery, and arrange for maintenance and repair work as required.

 Communicate and implement company policies and standard operating procedures as required.

 Work with purchasing staff to identify and correct inventory accuracy issues.

 Recommend improvements for warehouse safety, cleanliness, and capacity issues.

 Manage all operational equipment, maximizing efficiency, and ensuring good fleet maintenance in accordance with company standards.

Staff Management Supervise a team of approximately 6 to 8 warehouse employees.

 Create and maintain a positive work environment and team atmosphere.

 Coordinate job training and safety training for applicable employees.

 Apply the required discipline to bring performance or behaviours to expected levels.

 Conduct yearly Employee Performance Reviews and mid-year Performance Discussions with applicable staff.

 Address employee issues in a fair and consistent manner.

 Create work schedules, assign work tasks to warehouse staff, and manage labour costs such as overtime. EXPERIENCE

 Minimum three years’ experience supervising at least 5-10 warehouse employees, preferably in a distribution centre environment.


 Effective coaching and team-building skills

 Excellent organizational skills

 Ability to clearly communicate with internal and external parties in a professional and courteous manner

 Proven experience providing training and direction to staff

 Able to problem solve and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

 Multi-tasking and priority setting

 Use of knowledge of principles and processes for providing excellent customer service

 Use of knowledge of principles and procedures for hiring, training, motivating, and developing staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance

 Good computer skills with demonstrated proficiency with Word, Excel, and ERP systems EDUCATION

 High school graduation or GED

 Post-secondary education is desirable


 Permanent full-time

 Typically Mondays to Fridays
