Packaging Specialist – C04J2K The Packaging Project Specialist is responsible for co-ordination of private brand packaging projects from start to finish.

With strong packaging technical, design, print and copy skills as well as the ability to effectively prioritize and organize, the Packaging Specialist will steer retail packaging projects from inception to completion, managing the approval process, identifying and resolving issues as they arise.

Responsibilities
•Manage the packaging development and approval process from the kick-off meeting, through approvals to pre-press & printing.
•Track all project deliverables against prescribed timelines, and follow up with cross-functional teams or third parties on deliverables.
•Edit & re-write packaging copy supplied and provide art direction to ensure packaging is compelling, relevant, brand-consistent and regulatory compliant.
•Ensure all packaging content is accurate, including adherence to marketing objectives, brand guides and legal requirement. Research competitive products to ensure packaging is effective and “best in class”.
•Understand all Canadian packaging & product regulations, including but not limited to packaging and labeling act, CCCR, Charter of the French Language, CT’s Acceptance Criteria.
•Review packaging and brand guidelines for printability and application to product lines. Provide pre-press & print direction to third party vendors, identifying challenging designs and potential print issues.
•Understand and apply retail private label brand & marketing strategies.

Qualifications
•Solid project management skills.
•Technical knowledgeable of dielines, pre-press and print.
•Knowledge of retail packaging, brand execution and production art rules and best practices.
•A self-starter who is able to multi-task; adapt to changing priorities; and work within tight deadlines.
•Strong attention to detail and oral/written communication skills.
•Familiarity with packaging development process and components.
•Well-developed problem-solving, planning, organizational and interpersonal skills.
•Advanced skill in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) with ability to learn new skills and software.
•Copy writing experience and/or graphic design experience may be an asset.
•Post-secondary Education in graphic design or print production is preferred.
