The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Friendly Visiting Coordinator for Red Cross Community Health and Social programs and services. Reporting to the Coordinator, Grants and Foundations, this position is responsible for using a community development/community resiliency approach to create and support networks and relationships in communities to enhance Red Cross Health and Social programs and services.

Key Responsibilities

Define the scope and growth of the Community Health – Friendly Visiting program in collaboration with the Provincial Manager of Health Programming

Create the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion

Write program resources and documents needed for the Friendly Visiting program including helping to develop new resources if required

Ensures an appropriate volunteer base is in place to provide effective delivery of program and services in the designated Saskatchewan area

Recruits, screens, trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of volunteers, to effectively support the Friendly Visiting program

Maintains an adequate number of trained volunteers to ensure that Community Health – Friendly visiting requests are being met

Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization on the progress of the program

Building strategic partnerships with community contacts in order to enhance the Society’s image and support for the Society’s work

Qualifications

Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for this job are post secondary education in a related field such as (Nursing, Medicine, Kinesiology); One to three (1-3) years of job relevant experience, including some significant involvement with both training / implementation and public education / outreach; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Abilities and Skills:
Strong knowledge of the mission, principles and work of the Red Cross Movement, locally and worldwide

Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

Experience in the community development field and expertise in community programs, particular related to seniors

Some experience in program planning, budgeting, supervision and volunteer management

Ability to remain calm in disaster response situations

Office automation skills

Current First Aid Certification, or willingness to take training

A valid provincial Class 5 driver’s licence

Assets:
Fluency in a second language

Experience in working with a diverse population, and an understanding of cultural issues

Working Conditions

Travel within the province

Working from a home office

This position requires a successful Canadian Criminal Check and a Vulnerable Sector Check
