The Canadian Red Cross Society, a non-profit, humanitarian organization dedicated to helping Canadians, as well as the most vulnerable throughout the world, is seeking a Coordinator, Volunteer Resources (VR), in the Disaster Management (DM) department. Reporting to the Operations Manager, Saskatchewan, this position will work closely with the VR provincial staff and DM team with a key focus on disaster management volunteer capacity building and response mobilization in Saskatchewan.
Key Responsibilities
Ensures policies and practices in all components of the Volunteer Management Cycle are implemented.
Implements both targeted and broad based recruiting strategies in identified locations.
Supports the recruitment, screening and intake of volunteers including specialty intake processes and requirements of DM programs.
Leads recruitment and provides direct supervision to a volunteer team.
Implements a focused on-boarding plan and coordinates training to ensure volunteers are ready.
Leads the coordination, scheduling and tracking of volunteers during a disaster response mobilization and deployment.
Coordinates completion of volunteer exit interviews, performance feedback, hours, and peer debrief instructions following deployments.
Ensures consistent records management practices aligned with National policies and DM requirements.
Creates and prepares reports and statistical analysis as required.
Qualifications
Education and Experience:
The minimum qualifications for this position are the completion of a post secondary education in Volunteer and/or Human Resource Management and a minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of job-related work experience including recruitment and onboarding, or an equivalent combination of education and experience .
Abilities and Skills:
Strong verbal and written communications skills in English
Excellent interpersonal skills including handling interactions with general public, clients and colleagues
Proven decision in a high pressure environment
Ability to solve complex problems
Excellent computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and data bases
Demonstrated ability to lead and to work as part of a diverse team
Ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a fast paced environment
Current Standard First Aid certification or willingness to take training
Valid Provincial Class 5 Driver’s License
Assets:
General knowledge and understanding of disaster emergency response procedures
Fluency in Cree or another second language
Experience working with a diverse population
Working Conditions
Hours may vary, can involve evening or weekend work and will involve being on-call
Must be willing and able to travel within Saskatchewan as required including overnight travel
This position requires a successful Canadian criminal record check, a vulnerable sector check and satisfactory driver’s abstract.
