You will develop facility plans and schedules for the day-to day manufacturing operation to support the Mechanical Services system plan and the Operating Plan

You will develop facility plans and schedules for the day-to day manufacturing operation to support the Mechanical Services system plan and the Operating Plan. Ensures activities are performed safely and in strict compliance with regulatory and maintenance standards consistent with expectations of the business.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Develop, implement and review an 3 to 12 months business plan to contribute to the achievement of a 1 to 2 year vision and business plan;
  • Accountable for the output/results of direct reports related to daily production plan, and to adjust the plan as required to achieve maximum locomotive reliability/safety/productivity;
  • Apply best endeavors and full commitment to develop, implement and execute the daily plan (across all shifts), in support of the operating plan;
  • Ensure the manufacturing operations is in compliance with CP’s DLs, AAR standards, manufacture specification and TC/FRA regulations;
  • Ensure the application of CP safety practices, policies, procedures and output/results by all direct reports. In addition, take appropriate corrective measures as required. This is to be documented through, memorandums, IM , ISROP, formal investigations etc.;
  • Set performance objective setting for direct reports to improve their effectiveness; invoke performance improvement/development (i.e. training, courses, etc.) as necessary;
  • Implement approved Lean Continuous Improvement recommendations to improve productivity and effectiveness in the Weston Shop;
  • Provide feedback and coach direct reports to improve their effectiveness; invoke performance improvement/development (i.e. training, courses, etc.) as necessary;
  • Ensure qualified staff resources are available to manufacture products to CP’s DL, Manufacture specs, AAR standards and TC/FRA regulations;
  • Ensure that the direct reports at the Weston Shop conduct all activities consistent with the collective agreement.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must possess a High School diploma or GED;

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent would be considered an asset;
  • Minimum of 3 years railway operations experience at a supervisory capacity;
  • Strong locomotive technical aptitude or similar heavy duty machinery knowledge;
  • Strong aptitude and knowledge of ITM, SAP, SAP/ESS, Nexus, RPM;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to engage and direct immediate reports and manage in a unionized environment.

Management Conductor Program:
