Reporting to the Manager, Field Logistics, the Supervisor, Transportation is responsible for the effective management and utilization of transportation resources, drivers, and vehicles, by planning, coordinating, and scheduling the safe, efficient and effective transportation of blood and blood products, staff, donors, volunteers, according to all regulatory requirements and Canadian Blood Services Transportation policies and procedures. The incumbent is also responsible for supervising staff, maintaining regulatory records on drivers and vehicles and preparation of statistical information.
Supervises all process related to human resources according to Canadian Blood Services policies and procedures;
Directs the operation of vehicle fleet and related equipment and facilities;
Managers activities related to the planning, scheduling, monitoring and control of departmental operations;
Conducts process evaluations for all transportation functions; and
Assists with budget preparation and accountability of the departmental budget.
Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized institution is required.
Must have a minimum of three years of related in field logistics areas of transportation, including a minimum of three years of supervisor experience in an unionized environment.
Strong written and oral communication skills in English are essential.
Strong interpersonal skills, client focused thinking and ability to work with management at all levels is required.
Demonstrated ability to analyze, problem solve, plan resources and manage expenditures is required.
Proficiency using computer is required.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and a good working knowledge of SAP or other applications related to financial, scheduling purchasing and warehouse management modules are preferred.
Thorough knowledge of applicable legislations, including Provincial Highway Traffic Acts, Motor Vehicle Acts, Dangerous Goods Act, Provincial Environment Acts, is required.
