No experience necessary! Make a difference with the Canadian Armed Forces Naval Reserve in Newfoundland as a Marine Technician. A Marine Technician operates marine systems engineering equipment on ships at sea and alongside, to include propulsion, steering, machinery control systems, power generation and distribution, hull systems, liquid management systems and hotel services. They conduct preventive and corrective maintenance of this equipment, and carry out associated technical administration. They conduct advanced firefighting and damage control. They conduct burning, welding and machining in support of maintenance activities.

This position is available for part-time employment with the Primary Reserve at HMCS CABOT in St John’s NL. Reserve Force members usually serve part time at a UNIT near their community, and may serve while going to school or working at a civilian job. They are paid during their training. They are not posted or required to do a military move. However, they can volunteer to move to another base. They may also volunteer for deployment on a military mission within or outside Canada. A Career with the Reserves: As a reservist, the choice to go is always voluntary. The main role of the Reserve Force is to support the Regular Force at home and abroad.   • be a Canadian Citizen
  • be 16 years of age or older (with parental or guardian consent if under 18)
  • meet Canadian Armed Forces medical standards
  • Completed grade 10, with grade 10 Academic Mathematics
  • successfully complete selection process, interview and examinations
  • pass physical fitness tests
