We have an opening for an Account Executive to join our Commercial Insurance team working from our Bedford, Nova Scotia office.

Position Summary:

Responsible for all sales and service of an assigned book of business as well as develops and maintains prospect list through direct solicitation. Advice and counsel both new and existing clients on their coverage and provide recommendations based on their needs. Retains and grows assigned book of business through servicing clients and writing new business.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Service on-going client needs, advise on insurance matters, conduct needs assessment, recommend solutions, answer inquiries, conduct care calls and process renewals
  • Sell new policies/write new business to existing or new clients, retain existing book of business
  • Develops and maintains a prospect list through direct solicitation (through solicitation of expiry dates and/or other methods as determined by MCT Insurance/Brokerlink); contact prospects regularly; conducts regular meeting with clients, maintains client relationships, and visits client sites as required
  • Quote new business through outbound call initiatives, introductory letters and walk-in clients
  • Contact Underwriters and Adjusters to discuss guidelines and policy
  • Prepare documentation for insurers, complete applications for clients, issue insurance certificates, process changes and review renewals
  • Keep current on underwriting rules and workflow processes
  • Actively participate in training initiatives
  • Participate in community marketing initiatives
  • Develops and maintains a positive, cooperative, professional image with clients, community profiles, company personnel and other staff members, conducts business in such a manner as to enhance the professional reputation of MCT Insurance/Brokerlink.

Skills and Experience:

  • High School Diploma and/or Post Secondary Education
  • Minimum of 5 years Insurance Broker experience
  • General Insurance license for the Province of Nova Scotia required
  • CAIB, CIP, or CRM designation preferred
  • Proficient in MS Office – Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent customer service and sales skills
  • Demonstrated an ability to handle multiple priorities successfully
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
