The Calgary Dream Centre is a faith-based Christian organization, with a vision to reintegrate our residents back into the community, as productive members, through the provision of education and residential care.
The Education Coordinator will be responsible for:
Delivering & Adapting of the Hazeldern curriculum specifically for the CDC Programs
Administrating, Monitoring, Tracking and Reporting on client progress regarding monthly and annual statistics as they pertain to program offerings and participants
Jointly developing client team values in conjunction with Kitchen & Custodial Leads
Scheduling and Coordination of Educational and Extracurricular activities
Oversee client discipline and report progress to the CDC Program Director and Leadership Team
HOURS OF WORK: This is a position with various shifts based on the operational needs. May involve shift rotations.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Completion of grade 12 or experience equivalency
Preference given to persons with a Degree in Education, Addictions Counseling Diploma, or Certificate in Addictions Studies
A background in Education/Teaching is highly desirable
Experience
Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering curriculum with Addictions Education Groups and or Group Counseling
Abilities/Skills
Able to establish a therapeutic relationship with clients, demonstrating warmth, respect, genuinesness, empathy, concreteness and appropriate boundaries
Able to facilitate Drug Awareness and Addictions Classes
Able to make safe and sound decisions under pressure
Able to work in fast paced environment with minimal supervision
Able to be flexible and to organize time appropriately
Able to handle conflict in a professional manner and to function competently in high stress situations
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Must be able to initiate and compile accurate and detailed reports in a timely manner
Must be able to function at a high level in a team environment
Desirable to have proficient computer / data entry skills (Microsoft Office/Access)
CERTIFICATIONS: First Aid, NVCI and CPR Certification – Desirable
