The Burnaby Neighbourhood House is looking for a Volunteer Coordinator for a summer event at Metropolis at Metrotown. The Immersive Experience is an exciting digital, visual and audio experiential event running at Metropolis at Metrotown from late June – September 5, 2016 (exact dates to be confirmed). Inspired by digital art installations created by teamlab, a Japanese collaborative and interdisciplinary creative group that blends together art, technology, design and the natural world, Metropolis at Metrotown aims to provide a unique and memorable digital art installation comprised of a walk-through room filled with optical illusions and photo opportunities.
General Duties and Responsibilities:
- To recruit volunteers using a variety of outreach strategies
- To schedule volunteers for all shifts (1-7pm daily)
- To train, orient and support volunteers
- To provide relief to the exhibit when volunteers are unable to complete shift
- To track volunteer hours
- To plan and implement a recognition event for volunteers following the end of the exhibit
- To maintain communication with Metropolis staff
- Problem solve issues that may arise (customer service, volunteer performance, etc)
Qualifications:
- Experience recruiting and supervising volunteers
- Experience in a high-paced environment
- Experience in a multi-cultural and diverse environment
- Ability to work independently
- Attention to detail/well-organized
Hours of Work & Rate of Pay:
The Volunteer Coordinator works 20 hours per week. Rate of pay is $19.55/hr for approximately 15 weeks starting in late May and running through September
Reporting:
The Volunteer Coordinator reports to and is supported by the Program Director.
