Boys and Girls Club is one of the leading providers of quality after-school and out-of-school programs for children and youth in 96 clubs in 625 communities across the country.

Boys and Girls Club Services of Greater Victoria (BGCVIC) has been serving the diverse needs of children, youth and families in Victoria for over 56 years. BGCVIC offers a variety of programs in support of our mission, “to provide a safe, supportive place where children, youth and families can experience new opportunities, overcome barriers, build positive relationships and develop confidence and skills for life”. Our structured, supervised programs are facilitated by caring role models, who are positive influencers that use “strengths-based” approaches to learning and skills development.

Boys & Girls Club is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).
The Role:

We’re looking for a creative communicator with the mind of a marketer. You are a savvy pro who has managed a broad range of social media platforms. You have conducted online and print marketing initiatives and campaigns including websites, sponsorship programs and email promotions. You are a detail-oriented doer who can draft the copy, segment the email lists, hit the send button, monitor the analytics, and figure out what worked and what didn’t. At heart, you’re a writer and storyteller who knows how to grab peoples’ attention through compelling blog posts, conversational tweets, video clips, emails, and landing pages. As a writer and editor, you also have a knack for translating the ordinary into extraordinary.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Agency leadership to implement an integrated marketing and communications plan aimed at broadening awareness of Agency programs and priorities; increase the visibility of programs across key stakeholder audiences and increasing revenue.
  • Oversee and execute marketing and communications plans for Agency special events, including but not limited to the annual gala and other events for prospective donors and volunteers
  • Developing content for the agency website
  • Responsible for maintaining all Agency social media platforms
  • Maintain corporate branding standards including all print communications, marketing materials, electronic communications, corporate stationery, email signatures as well as building signage
  • Develop the communications/marketing and brand awareness strategy in support of the Agency Mission and strategic priorities
  • Coordinate all initiatives related to donor solicitation and stewardship, including gift proposals, annual appeals, and other materials as needed
  • Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward prospects from all sources
  • Participate in the development of a measurable annual and three-year fundraising plan
  • Plan, organize and implement all strategies for individual major gift donors and corporations in order to achieve annual fundraising goal
  • Provide leadership and support in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding individual major donors
  • Prepare talking points, speeches, presentations and other supporting material as needed

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • University degree or equivalent in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations or similar field
  • CFRE or transferable experience in sales/marketing, business experience, event planning or related advanced fundraising experience. AFP or CAGP designation an asset
  • Progressive communications/fundraising experience preferably in a non-profit environment
  • Ability to seek and synthesize information, write persuasively and succinctly and articulate passion in all communication forms
  • Job requires being pleasant with others on the job and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude
  • Ability to maintain impeccably precise records
  • Ability to balance working collaboratively while working independently to take initiative on projects
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • High degree of proficiency in using Microsoft Office applications
  • Excellent research skills coupled with innovative and creative outside-the-box thinking
  • Database experience and experience using other non-profit tools and resources is a must
  • Basic graphic design skills an asset

Terms of Contract:

  • Satisfactory criminal record check
  • Start Date November 16, 2016
  • Length of Contract: 1 year
  • Hours: 21 hours per week
  • $19-$21 per hour depending on experience
  • Group benefits package eligibility after 3 months which includes: health, dental, vision, life insurance, critical illness insurance, and healthy-living bonus
