Our Edmonton client is seeking a communications consultant internet digital contractor to become a key player in setting a strong foundation for successful internal communications.

Job Responsibilities

  • Improve employee portal
  • Evaluate, recommend and implement fixes
  • Review, manage and recommend process for addressing outstanding user stories
  • Work with internal web and digital media experts and information services (IS) to research, recommend and implement new intranet functions to improve business efficiency
  • Work with IS to establish a regular release cycle of fixes and new functions
  • Develop an intranet strategy
  • Research, develop, manage consultations / approvals and deliver a strategy paper to guide the ongoing management of the employee portal
  • Develop a 5 year intranet roadmap
  • Lead consultation, workshops, meetings and other methods required to inform the development of a document(s) that will guide future development of this key digital property and primary internal communication channel
  • Document and deliver roadmap document(s)
  • Apply strategic evaluation, analytics and measurement
  • Develop reporting mechanisms to enable ongoing assessment of the intranet’s effectiveness
  • Recommend and implement tools and / or processes to enable ongoing assessment, cataloguing and organizing of intranet content
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of taxonomy / nomenclature lists and definitions
  • Support intranet governance
  • Attend and contribute to intranet governance committee meetings
  • Follow-up on committee action items at the direction of the committee chair
  • Research and recommend governance improvements
  • Support daily intranet operation
  • Provide back-up support for digital content publication
  • Assist with resolution of intranet issues

Candidate Qualifications

  • Minimum five years’ experience, primarily in developing and / or managing internal and / or on-line content
  • Experience in a corporate communications environment is an asset
  • Diploma or degree in communications, digital and on-line media or related discipline
  • Member in a professional organization such as the International Association of Business Communicators would be an asset
