We are recruiting a Quality Assurance Manager for Bondi Produce Co. Ltd., a premier produce distributor located in Southern Ontario. DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • This position is based our of our distribution facility in Toronto.
  • Conduct on-site monitoring of sanitation, pest control, process control points, CCPs, and any other activity to ensure highest food safety standards are maintained
  • Holds suspect in process and finished products and assists in the final dispositions of on hold products.
  • Make regular visits to ensure that processes and products are compliant to approved specifications, Good Manufacturing Practices, and regulatory requirements and ensure corrective actions are taken, if deviations occur.
  • Monitors and records all tasks/checks assigned and complete the relevant documents/records in a timely manner (as soon as possible to the real time).
  • Monitors and or verifies the CCPs are in compliance to specification and agreed upon standards.
  • Identify quality improvement ideas for processes.
  • Obtains samples of raw materials/ ingredient, packaging material, and or finished products, etc. for physico-chemical/ microbiological analysis according with the schedule when required.
  • Attend first production runs of new products with product developers to ensure all QA requirements are in compliance with agreed upon standards
  • Keeps all related documents/records comprehensive, up to date to ensure accuracy and compliance to the company policies and procedures.
  • Ensure traceability is maintained and perform infrequent checks products
  • Assist in follow-up and issue corrective actions, if necessary, based on deviations found in plant process of resulting from issues such as but not limited to product deviations, customer complaints or third party audits
  • Provides weekly updates (or as needed) to management about the results and progress with quality and food safety program
  • Communicate significant issues to ensure resolution on a timely basis
  • Other duties as assigned (the above tasks are representative, but not all inclusive)

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of quality assurance and/or research and development experience in food processing industry.
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and GFSI standards
  • Working knowledge of OHSA, WHMIS, etc.
  • Self–starter, well organized, detail oriented and team player.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Excellent learning abilities, hands-on technical orientation, highly motivated.
  • Have ability to multi-task in a very fast paced production environment.
  • Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Problem identification and solving capabilities.
  • Ensure collaborative relationships inside and outside the department.
  • Responsible and accountable to make business decisions with little or no direct supervision
  • Organize and evaluate the need for Continual Improvement.
  • Lead ‘best in class’ behaviors with focus on safety, quality, and policy focus
  • Proficiency in: (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Power point, MS Outlook, etc.)

Salary: $55,000.00 /year
