Group Overview

The Corporate Sales & Structuring group is a team within Trading Products Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities (FICC) responsible for originating and executing hedging and financing transactions for BMO’s corporate and commercial clients. Working closely with investment, corporate and commercial banking, the team serves as product experts with a coverage universe including foreign exchange, interest rate and equity derivatives, structured finance, equity linked securities and commodities.

Position Description

We have the unique opportunity for a salesperson to join our global commodities and FX coverage team. The position provides day-to-day support to the sales team; generates trade ideas; shares market information with key clients and prices and facilitates FX and commodity derivative trades. The objective of the position is to become an expert in the group’s products with a responsibility of monetizing knowledge through relationships and transactions with BMO’s corporate and commercial clients. This requires a deep understanding of the pricing and mechanics of each product; liquidity, regulatory, risk and credit considerations; and general market developments.

ACCOUNTABILITIES DEFINED

A.

Client Support / Trading

Execute FX and commodity transactions based on client requests.

Answer phones; coordinate conference calls, client events and meetings.

Route client calls appropriately and respond quickly to client questions.

Maintain a proactive, client service focus in order to meet client needs and support team revenue growth

Respond to inquiries from clients and key stakeholders in a professional manner, and determine acceptable solutions

Assist senior staff in the research and resolution of administrative/operational issues.

B.

Transaction Modelling / Financial Analysis

Model and price a variety of vanilla and structured financial instruments

Understand all software systems for trading and pricing transactions

Provide execution and post-trade support

Research and analyze financial and operating information relating to companies and industries

Research and analyze financial market data; summarize data for recent trends and market developments

Origination Team Support

Track team’s revenue and sales metrics

Assist with onboarding requirements for new clients

Create / manage financial models/information for client pitches.

Produce written presentations and pitch material for clients

Act as liaison for documentation, legal, market risk, and other internal groups

Other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Knowledge:
Proven record of client relationship management skills

Very strong business development and marketing skills – experience with the Energy industry preferred

Strong understanding of, and keen interest in, the operation of the financial markets

Relevant experience within financial markets, investment/corporate banking, performing financial analysis in a client facing role is preferred

Experience with FX related systems including: Bloomberg, 360T, FXall, Wallstreet and Murex an asset

Skills:
Excellent analytical skills to include business, financial, and credit analysis areas.

Financial modeling with strong attention to detail.

Highly developed professional written and oral communication skills. Takes responsibility for understanding others.

Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools including MS Excel.

Strong proficiency in other Microsoft Office products.

Programming ability in VBA desired but not required

Skilled in creating statistical presentations.

Ability to be creative, insightful and resourceful in performance of duties.

Strong interpersonal skills to work with team members, other groups, and clients. Need to be personable, confident, credible

Ability to function in a demanding team environment, multi-task under what can be short timelines, and manage multiple projects and requests in an organized manner

Excellent capability to independently function as part of a team through self-motivation.

Education:
Undergraduate degree in relevant field

MBA and/or CFA designation (or working towards) would be an asset

Workplace Environment

Fast-paced, ever changing environment where teamwork and a collaborative mentality is essential

Ability to multi-task, adapt to change and manage time effectively

Accuracy, timely processing and attention to detail is critical

Ability to work extended hours, where a typical day is from 6am to 5pm MST
