The success story:

It all began with a merger between two of Montreal’s top kosher caterers: ETMO & Tradition.

After having worked with Harvey Leavitt of ETMO for over a decade, Alan Serour took over the company in 2010 and had taken the Montreal kosher catering scene by storm, rapidly developing a reputation for his inspired cuisine, excellent service and easygoing rapport with his clients.

In the summer of 2013, ETMO had outgrown its current facility and was looking for a new home at precisely the same time that Giorgi Romano of Tradition was preparing to ‘pass on the torch’.

Giorgi immediately recognized that Alan’s energy & passion, combined with his incredible culinary & interpersonal skills would make him the perfect person to properly serve the loyal client base that Tradition had built over the years.

The two joined forces in October of 2013 and after a year of working together closely, with the support of an incredible team, the time had come for Alan to finally launch his own brand…and so Traiteur BESO Catering was born.

Job brief

We are looking for an Assistant Baker.
This is an entry level position and a terrific growth opportunity for the right person to be part of a
creative and fun team!

Applicants should be able to prepare specific recipes quickly and efficiently. Paying sharp attention to
detail and the ability to take direction are a must. Baking hours will depend on the schedule that is put together monthly, but working at least one day if not two on the weekend is a must. You also may have to start work as early as 5:00am.

So if you don’t like working early mornings, this job is not for you!

•Have a knowledge base regarding, and be able to demonstrate fundamental baking and pastry techniques including, but not limited to; viennoiserie, bread making, pastry cream production, and other dough making needs
• Able to demonstrate proper recipe execution and work space tidiness in a fast-paced environment
•Safely operate, clean and maintain food services equipment and facilities
•Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
•Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
•Check quality of ingredients
Requirements •Proven experience as Assistant Baker; minimum 1 year experience

•Experience in using cutting tools, cookware and bakeware, knowledge of HACCP standards

•Practice workplace health and safety procedures (knowledge of CSST, MAPAQ an asset)

•Ability to work in a team

•Very good communication skills

•Bilingual; French and English

•Excellent physical condition and stamina being able to lift up to 60 pounds

•High school diploma or equivalent; Diploma from a culinary school

or proceed with Standard Application Form.
