Responsible for managing all interior design aspects of industrial projects from conception to completion including preliminary space planning, creating the specification document, finish selection and interior 3D walkthroughs.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead design meetings to analyze client’s goals and requirements for the proposed improvement work
Produce preliminary floor plans for client review based on client requirements and in accordance with local codes and building code
Produce and manage all office improvement specifications for multi-tenant lease/strata purchaser’s office improvements and build-to-suit clients
Review all office plans prior to submission to the client and/or municipality
Participate in design meetings to analyze plans and specifications for coordination, constructability, value engineering, and completeness
Work with the various clients from initial contact through completion of construction
Work closely with the development and pre-construction teams to facilitate successful project turnovers for estimating purposes
Assist the development team to prepare detailed office improvement proposals and liaise with both the legal and development teams during contract negotiations as required
Create a timeline for the interior design project
Produce presentation quality 3d interior walkthroughs based on client’s floor plans and specifications
Produce millwork elevations for custom office details including built-in’s and receptions desks for tendering purposes. Successfully turnover preliminary office plans to architect of choice to proceed with permitting upon client approval of contracts
Responsible for overseeing the day to day design oriented activities of all strata, tenant build out and internal build to suit layouts of our many development projects
Responsible for finish specifications and sample room, including, conducting market research to determine established standards within specific markets, specifying finish, plumbing, lighting and appliance packages for tenants and purchasers within established budgets
Responsible for coordination of all Interior Design permit and working drawings
In conjunction with the Construction Project Manager, responsible for reviewing all construction details pertaining to Interior Design including tender scopes of work and shop drawings
Work with the Design team to generate required specification documents for the internal construction department and for pricing
Ongoing coordination with other departments
Visit improvement during and after construction completion to ensure project was completed to Beedie and client’s satisfaction. Work with Service and Warranty team to ensure no deficiencies exist.
Desired Skills and Experience:
5 years minimum Interior Design industry experience, specifically with commercial and office uses.
Diploma or Degree in Interior Design
NCIDQ, LEED or International WELL certification a plus
Excellent knowledge of BC building code.
Excellent AutoCAD skills and knowledge of construction practices
Proficient with the use of a 3D rendering software
Proficient in Excel, Word and Outlook as well as preferred knowledge of Timberline and MS Project.
Self-motivated, analytical, detail-oriented, has strong initiative and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of constituents
Proven capabilities in multi-tasking, problem solving and prioritizing workloads
Clear spoken and written communication skills, combined with proven presentation experience within a senior level management group
A track record of establishing highly functional relationships with diverse personalities both within and outside the company.
Access to a vehicle is not required
