Bee Maid Honey Limited is the marketing arm of the Alberta Honey Producers Co-operative Limited and the Manitoba Cooperative Honey Producers Limited. Honey produced by beekeepers in western Canada is processed and packaged at Bee Maid’s Winnipeg, MB and Spruce Grove, AB plants.

Position Summary:

We currently have an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow within their Accounting Career. Reporting to the Controller, the incumbent will be responsible for a range of accounting and administrative duties which support the Accounting functions. The Accounting Administrator is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services in order to ensure effective, efficient and accurate financial and administrative operations.

This position will have the opportunity to be hands on in multiple roles within the Accounting Department and the possibility for growth in this role is inevitable for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts payable entry. Includes invoices, expense reports and other remittances.
  • Cheque payments and daily banking needs.
  • Review and approve invoices against freight quotations.
  • Print cash disbursement report, cross check debit memos against invoices and manual vendor payments.
  • Process export orders; create/distributes forms for Shipping and Operations departments.
  • Work with freight forwarder on schedules; communicate schedules to customers, Operations and CFIA.
  • Prepare pro forma invoices, commercial invoices and export documents.
  • Apply credit memos to finance charges, and print and post them to approved write-offs.
  • Review credit balances, refunds, and adjustments, and make corrections to corporate billing records.
  • Receive payments (by cash, cheque, EFT, etc.) and prepare bank deposit.
  • Process Customer Debits.
  • Filing and organization.


  • 3-5 years’ experience in accounting.
  • College Diploma or University Degree in finance or accounting.
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel. Experience working on accounting systems. Experience with Sage X3 would be considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of accounting month-end and year-end processes.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail is crucial to verify the accuracy of data and the entry of financial numbers.
  • Experience in accounting functions that support a manufacturing environment considered an asset.
  • Under minimal direction, able to organize workload, set priorities and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Effective team player with excellent communication skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
