The Legion Command office for BC is located in Cloverdale (Surrey). We are looking for an energetic and eager person with an eye for detail. Do you love organizing things and putting things right?

The Royal Canadian Legion/BC Yukon Command is a non-profit organization consisting of 149 Branches, 80 Ladies’ Auxiliaries and nearly 48,000 members. We are one of the foremost and most respected community service organizations in Canada, serving veterans, ex-service personnel, seniors, youth and many aspects of community life. Our organization has many exciting and innovative programs including Legion Service Dogs for veterans with PTSD, Veterans Transition Program (trauma counseling), and Legion Military Skills Conversion Program at BCIT which offers post-secondary education assistance for veterans and service personnel.

Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as the first point of contact for the office, on the telephone, in person and via the internet. In addition, this position provides significant clerical and administrative support to the office, including management of incoming and outgoing mail, office operations and sales.

Responsibilities include :

  • Operate switchboard
  • Greet clients and accept deliveries in a pleasant and efficient manner
  • Process daily mail, both incoming and outgoing and scan incoming financial statements for Branch Advisory
  • Distribute incoming faxes
  • Answer website enquiries
  • Ensure outgoing mail is sent on a daily basis
  • Manage office supply inventory and budget
  • Ensure office equipment is operational, arranging for service/maintenance as required
  • Record and complete orders and package supplies for shipping
  • Respond to Branch requests for supplies and forms on a timely basis

  • Provide support to all staff members
  • Perform other clerical and administrative support as assigned

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • A knack for organization
  • An eager and energetic personality
  • Minimum one year of previous experience in an administrative position
  • Strong communication and listening skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite
  • A good command of the English language
