We have an opening for an experienced Accounting Assistant in our administrative department. You will work together with the rest of the Accounting team to ensure all the duties of the Accounting Assistants are completed by doing all or some of the job duties.

  • Title – Accounting Assistant
  • FT/PT – part-time
  • Contract period – 1 year contract
  • Wage – $17.10 per hour

Job Description


The Accounting Assistant is responsible for supporting the Accounting & Payroll Manager and Controller in all aspects of the Accounting Portfolio. You will work together to ensure all the duties of the Accounting Assistants are completed by doing all or some of the job duties. You verify and make bank deposits, and reconcile all our operations. You also do accounts payable and receivable. Finally, you assist in month end and other accounting duties as needed.


  • Print daily banking activity and input into system
  • Reconcile point of sale information, electronic transactions and cash
  • Make adjustments; pass along to Accounting Supervisor or relevant Manager as needed
  • Input all data into system spreadsheets
  • Rectify issues that occurred while system was offline
  • Reconcile and maintain general ledger clearing accounts
  • Reconcile all club accounts
  • Reconcile all interdepartmental sales and transactions, and post to correct account


  • Receive all cash from our operations, count, and balance with attached deposit forms
  • Rectify all discrepancies and report to Supervisor or Manager when appropriate
  • Record all information and post journal entries
  • Prepare all cheque deposits and input into system
  • Prepare overall deposit bag for pickup

Accounts Payable

  • Enter all invoices into system for payment; process and close purchase orders
  • Monitor prices of goods versus prices in our system; communicate all discrepancies
  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve payment discrepancies and follow up on credit memos
  • Attach all supporting documentation to outgoing cheques

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare invoices, input payments and balance
  • Create new customers in system and mail out invoices

Operational Duties

  • Understand and follow all policies and procedures
  • Maintain records, statistics and security
  • Receive and fulfill cash and orders from retail locations, pub and approved external stakeholders
  • Support retail stores with reconciling daily cash, receiving inventory and creating POs as needed
  • Review and post cost of goods sold for operations
  • Rectify discrepancies in system when encountered
  • Run income statements and other reports as needed
  • Post all payroll to general ledger

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $17.10 /hour

Required education:

  • Diploma/Certificate

Required experience:

  • Accounting: 1 year
