As the BCTS Engineering Technician, good contract and project management skills will be essential when coordinating the development of harvesting access. This position provides engineering expertise and advice to operational staff and works closely with the Engineering Specialist to ensure environmental, construction and legislative requirements are met. As Engineering Technician for the Peace – Liard Business Area you will be responsible for coordinating, implementing and monitoring engineering activities, determining priorities and preparing estimates and budgets for the business area.

Qualifications:
In order to be considered for this position, your resume must clearly demonstrate how you meet the following education and experience:
Degree or technical diploma in a natural resource field, OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience accepted for registration as a Registered Forest Technologist may be considered.
A minimum of five years current (preferably gained within last 7 years) experience in forestry of which a minimum of two years is directly related to roads, bridges and major structures, inspection, construction and maintenance. Equivalencies may be considered.
Applicant must be registered or immediately eligible for registration with the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals (ABCFP) as a Registered Forest Technologist (RFT) or equivalent. Applicants must contact ABCFP to confirm their eligibility. Designated forest professionals registered in another Canadian province may be considered eligible.
Experience performing technical duties and working with key statutes that support natural resource management.
Experience in negotiating/mediating solutions in natural resource management.
Experience in and knowledge of contract administration and management.
Preference maybe given to applicants who have experience in contract administration, contract development and/or financial administration.
Note: Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
PROVISOS :
– Valid B.C. driver’s licence or able to obtain within 30 days.
– Meet safety standards of Work Safe BC.
– Must be willing and able to conduct field work which may include travel to remote areas by vehicle, boat, air or foot, overnight or extended stay in rough camp conditions and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
– May be required to operate a variety of equipment.
