Senior Spatial Data Administrator

Salary: $65,033.32- $74,351.64 annually, plus 6.6% TMA

This is a temporary opportunity until December 15, 2017, with the possibility of being extended.
Regular employees must have their supervisor’s approval prior to applying for this temporary opportunity.

The DataBC program provides government wide leadership and technical expertise to establish, develop, implement, maintain, and promote the Open Data initiative, the Enterprise Spatial Data Infrastructure and Data Administration strategies. This requires coordination of data administration activities for both enterprise and open data performed by branch data managers, administrators and architects across all sectors.

Reporting to the Head, Data Architecture Services, the Senior Spatial Data Administrator is a data management leader who collaborates with DataBC clients to understand the Province’s data, ensure it is modelled and described effectively and published and managed for end user access. Examples of Data are data geometries; data attributes, data collections, data views and reports, in a variety of formats, as well as associated metadata. The position is responsible for ensuring reasonable quality of the Data content and to promote the integration and use of the geographic data elements to the extent feasible.

As the Senior Spatial Data Administrator, it is your responsibility to provide expertise in the development of corporate and enterprise spatial and open data architecture, its governance, and spatial data management principles, and to provide consultative services on data architecture and management for major (multi-million dollar) provincial initiatives. You will also provide strategic analysis and approve corporate spatial and attribute data architectures.

In this position you will be required to provide support after hours and on weekends for server upgrades and patching. You must also be willing to provide on call 24-hour support during peak periods.
