ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT – CLK 09R
Salary $21.01 – $23.77 hourly
This is a permanent part-time position (0.5 FTE)

The Community Corrections and Corporate Programs Division of the Corrections Branch is responsible for the delivery of programs and services to adult offenders or alleged offenders awaiting trial or sentencing, who are serving community based sentences of the Court. The intent of these programs and services is to enhance public safety by assessing and managing the risk of the offenders and providing intervention to change behaviour. The Community Corrections Division works closely with the Court system and the Adult Custody Division of the Corrections Branch, and responds to Court and custody requests for pre-sentence and other reports.

As the Administrative Assistant, you will provide administrative, financial and personnel support services and frontline reception to ensure the smooth service delivery of the Corrections Branch. As an ideal candidate, you demonstrate initiative, good judgement, are tactful and discreet and have the ability to deal with individuals who may be or become challenging, and may be emotionally distressed. You take pride in your ability to maintain confidentiality, organize your workload, set priorities and remain flexible while completing your tasks in a changing work environment. With your excellent verbal and written communication skills, you provide routine information to the general public and receive clients who are accused or convicted of criminal offences. Highly organized and detail oriented, you enter, update and maintain client information on the Corrections Branch electronic information system (CORNET). Qualifications:

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Secondary school graduation or equivalent
  • A combination of 1 year of related experience, education and/or training (e.g. Clerical, secretarial, receptionist, or administrative support)
  • Experience/training in keyboarding, word processing, spread sheeting and other standard computer applications, (i.e. MS Office).
  • 50 words per minute keyboarding speed.
