Annual Salary: $58,915.64 – $67,319.53

The First Nations Relations Branch provides leadership in the ministry to increase First Nations participation in the forest sector through the First Nations Forest Sector Strategy. The Branch supports the consultation processes of the ministry and the natural resource sector. The Branch supports the Ministry of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation in treaty and other reconciliation processes. The Branch supports the development of policies and legislation within the ministry to ensure that the constitutional obligations of government are upheld and honoured.
This position provides support to FLNR staff conducting negotiations with First Nations and supports FLNR staff in advancing the ministry’s interests in provincial treaty and other reconciliation processes. This position also helps in the development of long term strategic accommodation measures to allow the Province to meet its constitutional obligations to address impacts of its decisions on Aboriginal rights and title.

To be considered for this position your application must clearly demonstrate that you have the following:
– Degree in resource management, public administration, aboriginal studies or equivalent.
– Experience conducting research and analysis related to land use, resource management, social or economic development issues.
– 2-3 years’ experience working with First Nations communities and facilitating First Nations negotiations is an asset.
– Experience researching policy issues and conducting policy analysis.
– Experience managing projects and/or project components.
