The Criminal Justice Branch contributes to the protection of society by preparing for and conducting prosecutions diligently and fairly. The Branch consists of regions across the province, each region comprising multiple offices headed by a Regional Head Office.
The Branch prosecutes offences under the Criminal Code of Canada, the Youth Criminal Justice Act and Provincial Statutes in the Provincial, Supreme and Appeal Courts of British Columbia and in the Supreme Court of Canada. In addition, the Branch provides legal advice to Government and Police on criminal law matters, and develops policies and procedures on issues relating to the prosecution of criminal cases for the Branch.
The Office Manager plays an important role in helping the Branch meet its mandate. You’ll be responsible for eight major activity areas within a Crown Counsel Office: office administration, financial, human resources, legal assistant/legal research, special projects, information technology, training and facilities. Further, you’ll provide information and recommendations on the financial and administrative implications of operational issues within the Crown Counsel office.
Assignments are varied and complex and often confidential in nature. Independent judgement is necessary to achieve goals and desired outcomes. The position requires clear communication and collaboration. Flexibility and the ability to carry out duties during times of high stress and/or urgency are key attributes as the demands of this position change on a regular basis.
Travel is a requirement and you must have and maintain a valid BC, Class 5 Driver’s License.

In order for applicants to be considered for this position, their resume and cover letter must clearly demonstrate that they have the following:
-Secondary school graduation or equivalent.
-Successful completion of a recognized Legal Assistant, Paralegal or Business Diploma or other equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience may be considered.
-Minimum of one year (preferably 3 years) of recent experience working as a Legal Assistant.
-Experience leading teams or supervising staff, including allocation of work, performance appraisals, etc. Minimum of one year experience is preferred.
-Preference may be given to those with experience working within the Justice System.
