Working within BC Housing’s Corporate Communications team, the Communications Specialist is responsible for a wide range of communications activities, with a primary emphasis on the production of internal and external communications materials.
- College diploma or degree in communications
- Three years experience in communications, preferably with some experience in the public sector
- Experience in planning, coordinating, organizing and managing the production of communications collateral and events with multiple partners and stakeholders
- Experience with web based applications and digital engagement tools
- Experience with current social media tools, technologies and applications
Or an equivalent combination education, training and experience acceptable to the employer may be considered.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Demonstrated ability as a strong writer and editor
- Knowledge of strategic communication planning
- Ability to analyze, problem-solve and mediate difficult situations
- Ability to work with senior government staff, agencies and contractors
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to work independently and as a team player
- Strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines and pressures, with scrupulous attention to details
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate manner
- Ability to juggle multiple priorities at any given time.
- A high degree of judgement, discretion and decision-making ability
- Knowledge of web based applications, including content management systems
- Strong social media skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends as required
