Join a professional resource management team dedicated to building and transforming BC’s vital water program. Water is fundamental to BC’s communities, ecosystems, food supply and economy. The provincial water program is a diverse group of highly collaborative people who help support and make robust and durable decisions with evidence based policy and sound science. Program staff works with internal and external partners to help ensure provincial water management is effective and sustainable. The program is undergoing an exciting transformation with the implementation of the new Water Sustainability Act . The new Act supports expanded regulation of groundwater, leading environmental protection practices and new area-based management tools – all which allow water resources to be more effectively managed during times of growth and change.
As the Regional Hydrogeologist, you have a statutory responsibility to ensure implementation, compliance and enforcement of the groundwater provisions in the Water Sustainability Act and Ground Water Protection Regulation. You will act as a liaison between industry, academic and agency staff as well as participate on ground water committees. You provide technical expertise to regional staff, applicants, clients and other stakeholders in the area of hydrogeology. The Regional Hydrogeologist collaborates effectively with staff and with a diverse group of stakeholders and is able to communicate technical information clearly and convincingly.
