The Business Innovation Division is seeking two full time Information Analysts to join the team in supporting strategic opportunities. BC Assessment has a commitment to provide quality property information products and services and demonstrate continuous improvement. The Data Analytics & Quality Assurance team collaborates with all BCA divisions to provide research, information and analysis to further these commitments.
Reporting to the Manager, Data Analytics & Quality Assurance, the successful candidates will provide data reporting and analysis services capitalizing on their training and experience in the following areas of specialization: analysis, data exploration and corporate performance measurement.
Strong foundation in the knowledge and/or use of tools such as Excel, SQL, SPSS, Cognos, SharePoint and other research tools and techniques will be considered a definite asset. You are a skilled communicator, who is able to explain the analysis of critical information and the resulting opportunities to improve BC Assessment property information.
In the first year you can look forward to:
- Creating and running relational data base queries, analyzing results using statistical techniques and providing reports to internal and external customers
- Participating in BC Assessment’s Central Quality Assurance program to ensure the production of a high quality Assessment Roll
- Supporting the business through the creation and maintenance of self-serve Cognos reports
- Interpreting and summarizing large volumes of quantitative and qualitative information
- Calculating, gathering and reporting corporate statistics relating to the quality of the Assessment Roll
- Working with internal customers to clarify requirements, suggesting value-added content, providing data analysis, and verifying information reports for custom requests
- Using analytics to gain insight into business opportunities
Please note: This work may be done from various BCA field office locations depending on circumstances and operational requirements. However, there will be times when you will be required to travel (ex. to Head Office in Victoria 1 week/month). Travel status will apply for these occurrences.

Job Requirements:
Education
A university undergraduate degree requiring a proficiency in research and analysis.
Real property appraisal and/or real estate education and training would be an asset
Experience
Two years related experience in research.
Related work experience in real estate, property assessment and taxation research and policy development is desirable.
Experience in translating strategies into operational terms in a complex public or private sector organization.
Note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Knowledge of:
BC Assessment practices and procedures.
BC Assessment’s broad business goals and emerging policy directions to assess and advise on process and information-related issues.
Programming scripts using appropriate language, such as Excel macros and Structured Query Language.
Skills and Abilities
The operation of desktop productivity software – Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Computer applications including one or more of the following Sharepoint, Visio, SPSS, Cognos BI Report Studio, SQL programming, Toad for Oracle.
Work collaboratively with BCA staff and external partners by establishing effective working relationships.
Demonstrate innovation and an understanding of change management.
Integrate effectively in project teams composed of internal and external resources.
Overcome challenges, difficult people or setbacks to achieve team, project and client goals.
